Process

The identity design & branding process

Let's cover the 5 simple steps I follow when crafting a new identity & logo design.

Unlimited graphic design for marketing

I've streamlined my design process for quick turnaround times without compromising on quality.

How The Branding Process Works

Understand

We'll get inside your head, brainstorm, sketch, and dive into market research.

Design

Craft, refine, and adapt logo concepts based on feedback for the final design.

Finalize

Refine & export logo files, create a style guide, and deliver the finished logo kit.

Kickoff

LET'S CHAT - Contact me for a quick chat to discuss your project, followed by a proposal and the exciting project journey.

  • How long does the process take?

Depending on the number of deliverables involved, it usually takes me anywhere from 2-3 weeks for a logo project and up to 2 months for a standard brand identity package that has some additional pieces of collateral.

  • How much does everything cost?

See prices for my brand identity packages here.

  • How do payments work?

Most projects are divided into two payments: a 50% deposit and 50% final payment, due net 15. On larger projects, we can set milestones for payments. Payments can be made by credit card, ACH bank transfer, Paypal, or check.

Brand Finder session

DISCOVERY - Explore your company's background, goals, audience, and competitors.

BRAND PERSONALITY - Discover your brand's unique appeal, archetype, and qualities.

WRITTEN BRIEF - Get a concise written brief guiding your identity design project.

  • How we will communicate?

We’ll start off with a video meeting to discuss your project and present the first round of concepts. For shorter communications, we’ll use email or I’ll send you a short recorded video.

  • Will we be a good match for eachother?

Compatibility is key in design. Check my portfolio to see if it matches your style. A designer's style should align with your project's aesthetic. If it doesn't, consider other options, as a designer's natural style often influences their work.

  • Why should I work with you?

Two reasons: First, I'm not just a designer; I'm your creative partner. I'll stand by your side, listening to your wants and understanding your needs. Second, I pour my heart and soul into the work I do.

Design

MOODBOARDS - Craft visual guides based on brand discovery insights.

CONCEPTS - Develop cohesive brand themes, messaging, logos, and more.

  • How do I know if we're a good fit?

A branding project involves a lot of information gathering: we’ll discuss your business goals, history, audience, competitors, brand personality, and more. This sets parameters that guide the design. Since you’re helping to set those parameters yourself, you can be confident your brand identity will be just right.

  • Can I ask for design changes?

Absolutely, I offer design and revision requests in all brand packages. With that said, it is typical during this process to only request 2-3 changes.

  • Can you just clean up my sketches?

In this case you are the designer, and you simply need a technician who can execute your idea using computer software. I bring strategic thinking as well as execution to a project, and that’s more than you’re looking for. I’m not the right fit.

Finishing Touches

REFINEMENT - Fine-tune project solutions for optimal results.

STYLE GUIDE & ASSETS - Create a comprehensive brand identity reference for consistency.

  • Do you supply editable source files?

Yep. Some designers charge extra for those, but I don’t. You can have the native source files for all of your final pieces.

  • Who holds the copyright?

Upon project completion, you will be the sole copyright owner. Unless mentioned otherwise, I reserve the right to display your logo and brand in my portfolio and social media.

  • Can you help with the printing process?

Yes. If you already have a preferred printer, I deliver print-ready files. If you don't have a printer, I can help find one.
